Sophie

INTERVIEW WITH THE WINNERS :  TEATUM JONES

When did you launch Teatum Jones? SS11

Did you expect winning the prize?
We didn’t expect to win as the competition we were up against was fantastic. Though we really put everything into our application and gave a lot of determination to winning.

How did it feel?
A dream come true. So happy and journey has just begun with all the amazing stores we are launching in across the world.

What is coming next?
We are launching our very first Menswear at our first catwalk show this LFW.

What did the woolmark prize bring you?
Winning means a huge deal to us. It’s recognition on a global scale both for brand recognition
and how we are retailed, giving us the opportunity to be more widely spread and introducing
us to new markets such as France and Australia. We’re not only launching in new markets but
we’re doing this in the best stores. These retailers (International Woolmark Prize retail
partners) are the most important part of the prize. We get to be present in those markets and
talk directly to our consumer, which is amazing for emerging fashion brands.

Where do you imagine the brand in 10 years?
Bigger, Better, Bolder!

INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTINA DEL GOBBO, COUNTRY MANAGER AT THE WOOLMARK COMPANY

Since when the woolmark prize has existed?
First lauuched in 1953 by the International Wool Secretariat, the Woolmark Prize was famously awarded in 1954  to young unknown designers for its first edition – Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent in Paris.
Today the International Woolmark Prize continues to recognize outstanding design talent from around the world and more than 75 designers have been selected from 62 countries to compete in regional awards around the globe…
The International Woolmark Prize was relaunched in 2012.
How did the company have the idea ?
Today the Woolmark logo ranks among the most recognized brands in the world, inspiring confidence in conscious consumers across all premium apparel categories.
The Woolmark Company strives to capitalize on this unparalleled brand recognition by working with leading designers, tastemakers and game-changing fashion bodies to further inspire the style-sawy to seek out the superior attributes of merino wool.
The Woolmark Company is the global authority on Wool. In keeping with a long tradition of supporting individual excellence in design, The Woolmark Company’s International Woolmark Prize (IWP) is an annual award celebrating emerging design. Working with the most important fashion bodies globally, the prize aims to identify future design stars and showcase new and captivating interpretations of Merino wool through their collections.
The IWP crosses borders and cultures by seeking up-and-coming talent from established and rising design hubs around the globe. The regional awards are held in six regions: Asia; Australia; British Isles; Europe; India, Pakistan and Middle East; and USA. Six menswear and six womenswear finalists are then selected to compete in the IWP finals, traditionally held during key fashion weeks around the world.
